Recreation & More

Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center

Flights of fancy await you in the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, where 1,000 tropical butterflies, representing more than 50 different species, flutter freely through the air. Tropical plants and birds, reside peacefully with the colorful winged jewels in North America's largest, glass-enclosed tropical conservatory. The award-winning film, On Wings of Wonder, plays continuously on two wide-screen monitors in the center's multi-purpose room , explaining the life cycle of butterflies.

Birds of Prey show

Feathered ambassadors with a story to tell about man's influence on the survival of wildlife make the Callaway's Birds of Prey show much more than just entertainment. The magnificent birds of prey featured in these outdoor, free-flighted shows, demonstrate their strength, speed and natural instincts at a lakeside amphitheater that allows the creatures to swoop directly over spectators' heads. This is a rare opportunity to see these birds up-close and to learn how our actions can endanger the survival of these innocent, yet mighty, birds.

Golf

Golf at Callaway Gardens is sublime. The superbly designed and meticulously maintained courses feature woodland borders and lakeland settings. The famous Mountain View course is ranked among the nation's top-rated courses by Golf Digest and Golf magazines, and served as the site of the PGA Tour's Buick Challenge for more than a decade. The layout for the original course, Lake View, was inspired by founder Cason Callaway who believed that playing golf should be a pleasant experience in beautiful surroundings.
