Nestled in a natural setting of a barrier island off the Georgia coast, the Jekyll Island Club opened in 1888 as a hunting retreat for America's wealthiest families. Here, millionaires such as the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, J.P. Morgan and the Astors wintered in seclusion until the onset of World War II. Subsequently abandoned, it was meticulously restored in 1986, and returned to its original elegance, from the lofty towers to the encircling verandas. Now a world class resort for your next vacation, getaway, retreat or meeting.
